This World! It's Lush, it's alive--there are heroes here TOO, from what we've discovered. How can they allow this? How can they stand for it? Don't they care?"

Then the Avengers are just dumbfounded that in the DC universe, they truly honor their heroes and want autographs, etc. It's not just a job for them.

That might be a fair intro into the attitudes of heroes that are recognizable and the world they live in before jumping into the Watchmen, and the attitudes surrounding THEIR world.Red Herring Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03861391922893896347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4832452014047878084.post-21377034310416382622011-08-05T06:49:55.753-07:002011-08-05T06:49:55.753-07:00"Watchmen" is a choice I always find int..."Watchmen" is a choice I always find interesting. While I do firmly believe it is an essential part of the canon, and a towering achievement, I think it is often a poor choice for initiates because it depends so heavily on the reader already having a fairly deep awareness of comics' structure and history as well as the nature of superheroes as fantasy constructs. Without that, the reader tends to see it as either little more than a "grim and gritty" superhero story or, worse, a boring effort. Good luck with this one.Matt Kishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17854685960260054407noreply@blogger.com
